A contemporary visual art project based on the recycling of the environment and war-on-Gaza junk — rubble and other materials suitable for artistic reconfiguration and installation — to produce a sculptural artwork in the open space, in one of the city's squares. In this way, the junk turns into a beautiful artwork, and the stereotype of the city changes to take on a new artistic spirit.
This project sheds light on the volume of waste produced in the city as a result of the blockade imposed on Gaza and the inability of the government or private sector to properly dispose of it. From this came the idea of turning part of this waste into artworks in the open space — succeeding in turning ugly things into beautiful, artistic works that change the mood of both people and the city.
It relies on human waste such as plastic materials and iron, including old cars' bodies, in addition to war remnants — concrete, iron, and plastic — from destroyed houses and institutions, then re-assembled into a form of art close to sculpture, between sculpture and installation.
This is the third project of its kind in the city: transferring arts culture from exhibitions and galleries into the street, so that people of different social classes and ages could see it, and so that art is not monopolized by artists and intellectuals alone.
